About the Hike

Hike Description

Contact leader for reservation. This group trail run will be starting at the Graybeard Mountain Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway and do an out-and-back on the MST to the Glassmine Falls Overlook. Photo/snack break will be at the craggy rocky area with sweeping views of the Black Mountains, just after the turnaround point. Participants are assumed to have prior trail running experience. Runners should be prepared with proper hydration, layering and footwear with good traction. Group will start the run promptly at 9:00am.Topos: Montreat

Scout Report

John and I scouted this hike a few weeks ago during the last week of July. The trail is in great condition and there were no obstacles to note during our scout. We were on the lookout for rattlesnakes on the rockier, more exposed areas of the trail, but couldn't spot any. This will be something we warn the runners about beforehand as a precaution, especially since the run will be taking place during the morning. Our scouting hike was at around 6pm on a cloudy Thursday afternoon.
