About the Hike

Hike Description

Contact leader by email for reservation. We will start at the spectacular Cowee Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway and hike steeply downhill through a beautiful spruce forest approximately 1/2 mile to the MST. Left onto the MST for approximately 8 miles to the parkway crossing at Haywood Gap. Car shuttle.Topos: Sam Knob

Scout Report

Today tom and I scouted this hike. The steep descent from the overlook, the wetness and the thick brush has led me to change this hike. I will be willing to lead it in better conditions. The new hike is Rough Butt Overlook to Rte. 215, 6miles. (shuttle). This will be via the MST with a stop at Fork Meadow and Mt Hardy.
