This favorite moderate hike on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail goes through a beautiful section of forest and up to Lunch Rock just above Haw Creek Overlook. We will have lunch on the rocks with great views of the Haw Creek Valley and Asheville.Topos: Oteen

Scouted this hike on Tuesday, 11/3. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and this hike just never disappoints. We caught some past peak color and some beautiful views. It was exactly 2.4 miles to the overlook on the MST mostly adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's rated as moderate. There's a bit of elevation gain along with some roots and log stairs, but it's a well maintained trail with no rock scrambles or stream crossings. Most of the elevation gain is getting to the overlook, but there are enough rolling ups and downs to make it pleasant both ways. There is still evidence of Helene damage, but also of the tremendous efforts from CMC and others to clear the blow downs.
