Hike Description

Contact the leader via email for reservation. This hike in Caesars Head State Park in S.C. begins by exploring the short trail near the Visitor Center with tremendous views and a walk through Devil's Kitchen, a narrow, one-person-wide rock chasm. We will then drive one mile back to the Raven Cliff Falls trailhead for a pleasant hike up and down trails to the pedestrian suspension bridge over the top of a beautiful 250-ft. waterfall. On the return, we'll take a short detour to view the falls from the platform on the other side of the valley. $3 per person park fee. It is hunting season; please wear orange.Topos: Table Rock

The weather was perfect when I scouted this hike on 10/21 with Diane J and Donna L. Starting at the Caesars Head Visitor Center, we paid our fees then walked to the overlook with sweeping views of the Piedmont. Leaves were just beginning to change so we may have lots of color for hike day. After a quick and fun jaunt through the Devil?s Kitchen, we drove the 1-mile back to the trailhead. The trails to the bridge at the top of Raven Cliff Falls roll up-and-down with a longer descent to the river. We found a nice spot on the rocks by the water for lunch. There is much evidence of the damage from Hurricane Helene but trails are generally in good condition. Hiking back to the other side of the valley, we relaxed in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the falls. I tracked this hike at 8.5-miles with a 1600 ft total ascent.
