About the Hike

Hike Description

This was initially planned as an in-and-out hike, but was altered to a shortened key swap to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. One group starts at Burningtown Gap south on the Appalachian Trail to top out on Wayah Bald (5342). The other group goes from Wayah to Burningtown. On the rock tower there are lots of plaques identifying peaks on the skyline. This hike was offered during the August 2026 Camporee at Appletree Group Campground, Topton NC.Topos: Wayah Bald
