A variation of CMC hike 0295, this is a loop hike heading north on the A.T. up Lovers Leap, along the ridge above Hot Springs to Pump Gap, down the Pump Gap Trail to Silvermine Campground and back to the parking area. Scout Report

Thanks to members of my Weekday Hikers group who helped me scout this hike on Oct. 15. Looking at the schedule on the Website, the details of this hike are incorrect. It starts by going UP Pump Gap Trail, then southbound on the AT to Lover's Leap, then down on the Lover's Leap Trail to the Silvermine Parking. There is also a secondary meeting place: Publix in Weaverville at 9:15. I'll get all that correction in Breaking News. We had a perfect day for a hike with some fall color. The trails were all well-maintained. I like to offer a shorter hike on a Wednesday when another hike is longer (13 miles is the other choice Nov. 18). Most of the leaves should be off the trees by then so there will be great views of the French Broad and distant ridges.
