About the Hike

Hike Description

Join us for a leisurely hike through Richmond Hill Park. There are 2.6 miles of easy hiking trails with an elevation gain of 250 ft. The park features rolling hills with river bluffs and hardwoods of oak, maple and sweet gum, creating a peaceful urban oasis. A great fall hike since the trail will reveal the western edge of the French Broad River. The park has restrooms and plenty of parking. A popular disk golf course is adjacent to the hiking trails.

Scout Report

We did a second scout for this hike yesterday. It was a warm fall day with lots of fallen leaves. The trails are in good shape with some long range views along the river. The total mileage was an easy 3 miles and a total of 330? elevation gain. This uphill is broken up into two gradual uphill climbs. There are two small stream crossings. I had one pole that was helpful with the crossings. We had great views of the French Broad and surrounding area including the old prison.
