The Education Committee plans workshops and events on a variety of topics related to hiking. For example, we have offered courses on Orienteering and Wilderness First Aid. Committee members also partner with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy to offer opportunities for family hiking. In addition, the committee is seeking to partner with youth organizations to encourage hiking among young people. CMC would like to hear your suggestions for classes, or you can sign up for an upcoming course. Upcoming courses will be listed in Let's Go and/or eNews.
NEW--YOUTH PARTNER CHALLENGE! We want to challenge CMC members to share hiking experiences with youth. CMC plans to offer shorter hikes with an educational component to youth under the age of 18 years. Children who go out and have an amazing time on the trails are more likely to return. The Challenge is set up to showcase many of our land use managers with some history, trivia or other tidbits of information that will get CMC members excited about sharing.
