From your Editor Happy Thanksgiving! I'm grateful that I live so close to the Smokies and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I'm grateful that in the Southern Appalachians, we can hike comfortably all year round without crampons, snow shoes and ice axes. And I'm grateful that I belong to an active, involved hiking club. What are you grateful for? Danny What's Happening In the Next Two Weeks Four CMC Pilgrims at Diamond Brand Outdoors on Monday Nov. 23 Th All of them agree that this is the most beautiful of the three sections they have done. Come and see why. Also bring along any questions you may have about the Camino de Santiago, the historical pilgrimage route that begins in several European countries and ends in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

As Bob Miller, the Public Affairs officer for the park said, "he didn't get the carcass". As you can imagine, the Elk Bugle Corp volunteers are all aghast. The Bugle Corp season was over Nov. 1 but communications among us continues. Danny Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition This competition provides both amateur and professional photographers the opportunity to showcase their interpretation of the unique character, people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians. The deadline is January 29, 2010.
